LED lighting is becoming more commonly used in several types of aquarium applications. These lights are usually used in moonlight supplementation. They are generally turned on, after daylights turn off, to create an ambient soft moonlight cast on the aquarium. Although used mostly for aesthetics, some people feel that a lunar cycle can encourage coral and fish to spawn. The newest technology in lighting fixtures is to uses multiple LED's in a hood configuration to create the most versatile, intense, and efficient lighting systems available on the market today. These LED fixtures can manually or automatically dim and vary there output to simulate natural sunrise, sunset, and even duplicate a cloud cover. LED's will last longer then any other bulb and generally do not require replacement.
