There are a few standard tests commonly used by freshwater hobbyists to monitor their water quality. For African cichlid tanks, high range Ph, ammonia, oxygen, nitrite and Nitrate are tested for. In all other fish only set ups, the same is true however low range pH replaces high range. In the planted aquarium, these are tested for as well as c02.
